Arsenal extended their lead atop the Women's Super League standings with a resounding 4-0 victory over Aston Villa WFC on Saturday. Stina Blackstenius stole the show, netting a first-half hat-trick, while Frida Maanum added another for the Gunners.
Blackstenius opened the scoring in the 15th minute, tapping home from close range after a cross from Katie McCabe. The Swedish striker doubled Arsenal's advantage just 12 minutes later, pouncing on a rebound after Vivianne Miedema's shot was saved by Hannah Hampton.
Blackstenius completed her hat-trick in the 37th minute, expertly volleying home a cross from Tobin Heath. Maanum added a fourth for Arsenal early in the second half, firing a low shot past Hampton from the edge of the penalty area.
The victory sees Arsenal move four points clear of Manchester United in the Women's Super League table. The Gunners will now face holders Manchester City in the semi-finals of the League Cup, while Aston Villa will turn their attention to their next league fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion.
