Tottenham boss Conte furious after late collapse against Southampton
Spurs let slip a two-goal lead to draw 3-3 at home
Conte: "I'm very angry, very disappointed"
Tottenham Hotspur head coach Antonio Conte has expressed his fury after his team let slip a two-goal lead late on to draw 3-3 with Southampton at home on Monday.
"I'm very angry, very disappointed," Conte said in his post-match press conference. "We had a great opportunity to win the game, we were 3-1 up and in control, but we conceded two goals in the last 10 minutes. It's unacceptable."
Conte said that he was particularly disappointed with the way his team defended in the closing stages of the match.
"We need to improve our concentration and our focus," he said. "We can't afford to make these kinds of mistakes if we want to be successful. We need to be more ruthless and we need to kill the game off when we have the chance."
Tottenham are now eighth in the Premier League table, four points behind fourth-placed Arsenal. Conte said that his team need to start winning games if they want to qualify for Europe next season.
"We need to start winning games," he said. "We have a big game against Arsenal on Saturday and we need to be ready to give everything we have. We need to show that we are a team that can compete with the best teams in the league."
