Antwerp Signs Ajax's Owen Wijndal on Loan

Dutch Left-Back Bolsters Belgian Champion's Squad

Antwerp, Belgium – September 5, 2023

Belgian champion Antwerp has acquired Dutch left-back Owen Wijndal on loan from Dutch Eredivisie giants Ajax until the end of the season, the club announced on Tuesday.

Wijndal, 23, has been a regular for Ajax in recent seasons, making 112 appearances and scoring six goals in all competitions. He has also been capped twice by the Netherlands national team.

Antwerp manager Mark van Bommel is excited to have Wijndal on his side.

"Owen is a great addition to our squad," van Bommel said in a statement. "He's a young, talented player with a lot of experience at the highest level. He'll bring quality and depth to our team."

Wijndal is eager to prove himself at Antwerp and help the club achieve its goals this season.

"I'm very happy to be here," Wijndal said. "Antwerp is a great club with a lot of history and ambition. I'm looking forward to playing with my new teammates and helping the club win more trophies."

Wijndal could make his debut for Antwerp when they face Genk in the Belgian Pro League on Sunday.
